PREPARED TO FIGHT

 Ephesians 6:14-17
    http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Ephesians+6:14-17

Dear Father, my support in battle,

Help me stand, having put on my body the garments of TRUTH and the bullet-proof vest of the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF JESUS, having put on my feet the combat boots of PREPARATION IN THE GOOD NEWS OF PEACE, and besides these, having taken in hand the shield of TRUST IN GOD. (I feel like I need a gas mask of DISCERNMENT to protect me from the poison of Satan's propaganda.) Give me the wisdom that comes with the helmet of SALVATION and the zeal to take up the assault weapon of the SPIRIT, THE SPOKEN WORD OF GOD.

With all these in place, let me stand my ground . . . and fight!

In the name of Jesus, the forger of our armor, I pray. Amen.

Romans 14:19

VERSE:
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
    -- Romans 14:19
       http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+14:19

THOUGHT:
"Make every effort!" That's quite a challenge. But notice where that exertion is to be focused: peace and mutual edification. Both sides of this exhortation are two way responsibilities. I must pursue and share peace if I am going to have it myself. I must
edify, and be open to being edified, if mutual edification is going to happen. In other words, we live with other people in God's family. He wants us to be responsible for making relationships work in our spiritual family. He reminds us it will require strenuous effort. But, isn't that true in every family relationship? Love means sacrifice, effort, and concern for others. When we share our love willingly, however, we're much more likely to see it coming back to us!

PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for my impatience and selfishness. Defeat the bad attitude of competitiveness that I often display in arguments and disagreements with others in your family. Energize me by your Spirit to see areas where I can be a
blessing and an encouragement to others. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

UNDIVIDED, INDIVISIBLE

Philippians 2:1-2
    http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Philippians+2:1-2

Dear Father, One God of your one holy people,

Help me never to be a party to any division within the body of Christ. Let me be perfectly united in mind and heart with all others who follow you.

Help me not to be some kind of -ite, -ist, or -anian. Keep me from misplacing my loyalties with this person or that!

Christ, of whom I am part, is not divided. He is of one mind. So let me and all his people be together and in agreement.

Let us be like-minded, having the same love, one in spirit and purpose.

In the name of Jesus Christ, the source of our unity and salvation, I ask these things. Amen.
